We encourage the buying and selling of plants with honesty and integrity.

We expect all users of Indoor Plant Trader to love and respect the indoor plant community as much as we do. If you disagree with these principles, please do not use indoor Plant Trader.

Sellers – please be sure that you offer quality plants, cuttings and seeds for sale that have every chance of thriving with their new owner.

Buyers – please don’t support dubious sellers offering low quality plants and unviable cuttings…no matter how badly you want the variety being sold. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Some guidelines to follow;

  • ID your plants, seeds and cuttings as best you can, and be honest about it. If you don’t know what it is, write ‘no ID’. Passing off one variety for another is unethical and can lead to some serious blowback on you, and nobody wants that!
  • Only buy and sell seeds in quantities of 5 or more to ensure the best chance of having one or more viable plants.
  • Provide as much information as you can about the origin of seeds and seedlings, to ensure the new owner has the best chance of making them thrive. Things like seed/seedling age, pictures of parent or sibling plants and any other known information is highly useful and appreciated.
  • Do not post very young seedlings as they often don’t survive the journey.
  • Do not sell cuttings without clear nodes, completely white variegated plants, rotted or rotting plants, plants with any fungus or pest issues, or plants that have failed to thrive in your care…chances are they will continue to fail.
  • Be sure to package and post your plants correctly – see our Packing & Postage Tips page for more information.
  • Make sure you follow Quarantine Guidelines.

Let’s keep the indoor plant community growing together by treating each other with respect.
